The Plainfield Fire Department is currently staffed by nineteen
resident
volunteers with 238 years of combined firefighting experience.
The Department provides first in fire,
light rescue, and EMS services
to the towns of Plainfield & Cummington, with standing mutual
aid
assignments to the towns of Ashfield, Hawley, Windsor, and Savoy.
All firefighters
are
trained to the Haz-mat Operational level. All personnel are ice rescue certified. At
present there are four staff EMT's and five semi-automatic defibrillator
certified personnel
available for call at all times. Several of our firefighters have
received specialized training in
the areas of mountain rescue, water rescue,
SWI, fire prevention and fire investigation.
